I sat in my minivan in the parking lot of the drug store and cried over the steering wheel. I had run into a snafu with our insurance. It wasn’t a huge problem and was easily correctable.
But it was that proverbial straw they talk about.
It was just one more thing I didn’t need to happen that day.
I see you, sister. Maybe there isn’t a major problem in your life. Maybe overall things are pretty good compared to others. But it’s just that mountain of issues that keeps piling up and you’re not sure if you can keep up the pace of your life when you feel so weighed down.
The child’s illness. The job uncertainties. The bills…oh, the bills. And the laundry that is never-ending. And the house that needs cleaning. The household projects that need to be done. You need to go grocery shopping, and make a dessert for the function you have to go to. And then there are the lessons and practices and appointments.
It’s like falling into a black hole of stuff to do and people to take care of that just keeps going. And you need a break.
It’s hard to vent to anyone about it because sometimes you can’t even put into words why you feel the way you do. And you’re sure nobody will understand.
I know all about it.
Honestly, I don’t even know how to say anything that will make it better, but I can give you these words from the One Who truly understands.

Five Scriptures for the weary woman:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
“And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” – Exodus 33:14
“You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” – Isaiah 26:3
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” – Psalm 23: 1-3
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33
Now, sweet sister, I’m aware that reading these verses won’t magically make everything better. But it’s through the truths in these words that you will find a Friend Who CAN make it better. There is peace in Him, though it may take time and patience to find it.
In the meantime, breathe. Take care of yourself as you are taking care of others. Say “no” when necessary. Know that God has a purpose and plan for all that you face day in and day out. Realize that you are NOT alone.
Find rest.
Love,
